Learn to use screen printing in a playful and expressive way using stencils, screen exposures and monoprinting methods. This course will encourage creativity and using the screen printing technique. You will learn new processes, opening you to new outcomes and methods within screen printing. The course has a strong emphasis on mark-making, colour mixing and print application, allowing you to develop new skills and challenge old ones. Please bring an open mind!

What experience do I need?

This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with previous experience. Those with an understanding of screen printing processes will benefit from learning new and experimental techniques.

What will I make?

You will make a series of screen prints on paper using varying techniques. There will be the opportunity to explore the techniques that you enjoy the most.

Who is my tutor?

Mary Gibbons is a screen printer who studied at ArtEZ Academy of Arts in the Netherlands and later worked in London as a Graphic Designer. Now she works in a local gallery and sells her work online and in galleries. She is inspired by nature, mark making, pattern and texture.

Do I need to bring anything?

Basic materials such as inks, paper and use of screens are provided. The workshop also sells a range of different papers should you wish to try something different - prices range from £1 to £2.20 per sheet. You can also purchase a portfolio folder to take your prints home if you don't have your own.

If I can't attend can I get a refund?

We will refund you in full if you cancel no less than 14 days before the start of the first session of the course, after which no refunds will be issued. Once booked, you cannot transfer to another course.

What if the course is cancelled?

We reserve the right to cancel the course for any reason (for example, insufficient bookings). We will endeavour to give at least 7 days notice if the course is cancelled and in the event of cancellation we will, of course, issue you a full refund.

Accessibility

Our aim is to bring printmaking to as many people as possible but, due to the nature of the building, Leeds Print Workshop is not wheelchair accessible. There is a step up into the building and four steps down to the toilets, and no accessible toilet facilities.
