Make your own: Clay Bud Vases

Join us for a hands-on clay workshop learning to make your very own botanical bud vase.

Using hand building techniques, you will be able to design and create a piece that is unique to you and in your style, using inspiration from the Floating Garden. We will collect botanical elements from our surroundings to imprint into the clay but feel free to bring along any special flowers or leaves that you would like to incorporate into your design. 

We will glaze your vase in your chosen colours and your fired piece will be ready to collect 3-4 weeks after the workshop. 

What to expect:

• The workshop will be held in a classroom space on board the barge but it will take place partially outside if the weather allows, so we recommend bringing layers and clothes to keep you warm and dry.  
• Working with clay is messy! Wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting clay on and if your hair is long, we recommend tying it back.
• We recommend bringing a water bottle which we can refill on site. Hot drinks will be provided.
• We'll provide all the materials you need on the day to try out the different techniques including the clay, a variety of coloured slips, and the option of one of two glazes. Samples, completed projects and inspirational examples will be available to look at as you decide on your own approach.

All proceeds will support Global Generation and Canal Dream CIC in delivering more community projects.​

About the Space and Accessibility: The Floating Garden is a barge moored along the Regents Canal near Coal Drops Yard with views of the surrounding area. There is an indoor classroom space on the barge so the session will go ahead rain or shine. The barge is not yet completely wheelchair accessible - there is a set of stairs that lead directly to the mooring or lifts that give access to the towpath, however there is one step required to get from the towpath to the barge and steps from the main deck area to the toilet. Please speak to the team if you have specific accessibility questions.
