Make your Own Little Black Dress Class at Abakhan Mostyn

Do you struggle with sizing? This class is designed to get the perfect fit for your body.

You will be shown how to take your body measurements, then to work out how they fit to the pattern. You will be taught how to measure your pattern pieces to make sure they all fit to you. You will also be shown how to change the sidings to match yours. You will then cut your linings to be your template. A much cheaper version of the fashion designers toile.

You have a choice of patterns, listed below. All your requirements on on the back of you pattern.Please cut your paper patterns pieces before you arrive to class. Cut the relevant pieces to the outside line. Do NOT cut to size.

Skill level : Basic sewing machine skills required

What to bring:

• Choose from - Sewing Patterns Simplicity 9474, McCalls 8032, New Look 6655 or New Look 6696 (All the requirements can be found on the back of your pattern)
• 1 metre of matching dress lining

Janome sewing machines will be provided on the day along with a hot drink. You will also receive a 10% discount card to use in-store.

Tutor : Corrie Robinson

I was a professional dressmaker for over 20 years, working from my studio in Prestatyn, North Wales. I specialised in Bridal and Aerial wear, so from satin to stretch. I retired in 2020, so I could focus more on my teaching.

My classes are designed to pass on the skills I learnt over the years. So my students can progress in their own sewing, from beginners to advanced. I have taught with Abakhan fabrics for over 18 years now and have a passion for teaching dressmaking and sewing.

My classes are designed to be fun as well as informative, giving you as much knowledge as I can and helping to further your sewing skills. It’s all about time and practice plus a few handy cheat tips! I love dressmaking and I’m passionate about teaching, so hopefully the 2 combined gives you a great source to draw from, whether it’s making your own trousers to putting in zips.
