Make your own mead!
Wed 5 April 2017, 19:30 – 22:00 BST
Have you ever wanted to make your own mead?
Join us at our Peckham meadery, where you'll learn how to make your own mead. This short course runs over two evenings and offers the perfect introduction to making your own mead.
On the first evening, you'll work with our head brewer, Tom, and the brewery team to brew your own mead, customising your mead with our selection of hops, spices or fruits.
Two weeks later - and once the mead has finished its fermentation - you'll return to put the finishing touches on your mead, and then it'll be ready to take away and drink!
What's included: a tutored tasting of a selection of Gosnells on the first evening, a second drink on the last evening, and your own mead to takeaway in a glass demijohn (approx. 5 litres).
Who is this course aimed at?
This is aimed at anyone with an interest in mead, from a complete beginner to someone who really wants to polish up their home brew. There'll be a one brewer for every 6 people, so we should be able to answer all your questions!
What happens on the evenings?
This will be an introduction to mead, honey and all things brewing. We'll start by talking you through a bit about the history of mead, the different processes and how mead differs from other brewing techniques.
We'll then get down to making some mead! Assisted by our brewers you'll make up the wort for the mead, adding your own mix of spices, hops and flavours, (don't worry, we'll be on hand to help guide you). We'll then pitch in the yeast, and leave your mead to bubble away for the next two weeks.
We'll then keep, an eagle eye on your mead bubbling away in our meadery until the ...
By the time you come back two weeks later the mead will be ready to finish. We'll help guide you through some bench trials to test how sweet you'd like your final product, we'll then pasteurise your mead for you, and it'll be ready for you to take home!
What do I get at the end of the course?
You'll get to take home a demijohn full of your own, unique mead!
