Make Your Own Medieval Monster is an arts and ideas workshop for children, focusing on the history of Keynsham’s lost medieval abbey. Participants are invited to design and make a glowing stained-glass effect ‘monster’, which will become part of a larger illuminated window installation on Keynsham High Street. This is a fun session that supports emotional wellbeing and creativity.

Workshop Details

Crafting materials are provided. Workshops are suitable for children aged 4-7. Your session will last up to one hour - please click 'select a date' to choose your slot.

Places are limited and capacity is restricted - there may be some space on the door, but please book in advance to guarantee a place. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Making Space for Our Future

Making Space for Our Future is the launch event for Keynsham's Local Cultural Programme. It offers a five-day programme of workshops, art installations, performances, two street markets and a temporary exhibition, all inspired by Keynsham's history of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It has been organised by Keynsham Town Council with support from Bath & North East Somerset Council, and has been made possible with funding from the Welcome Back Fund and Historic England.

Kate McGregor-Michael

Kate is a Keynsham-based mould maker and sculptor. She trained in sculptural ceramics in the early '90s and spent much of the next 16 years as an art teacher and teacher of teachers. Kate’s current work focuses on natural forms, based on seed pods and the promise of life contained within them.

Little Lost Robot

Little Lost Robot is a new CIC founded by artist Ruby Jennings. They use technology to create a vision of the future that is non-slick, human centric and gloriously humane in all its messy domestic parts.

Keynsham's Local Cultural Programme

Keynsham is one of 60 high streets in England to receive a grant for new community-led cultural activities and events, as part of Historic England's High Streets Heritage Action Zones initiative (HS HAZ). The Local Cultural Programme is led by Keynsham's Cultural Consortium, which is formed of local community groups and representatives and led by Keynsham Town Council with support from Bath & North East Somerset Council.

Keynsham’s activities will include mini festivals, markets, cultural community days and the installation of an illustrative timeline of Keynsham’s history.
