Event description

Description

Join local artist, Julie Dart, for this 90 minute workshop to learn to make sculptures and decorative bowls for your garden, from natural materials such as willow, wisteria twine, honeysuckle twine and rattan sphere.

Julie is a Bristol-based artist, focusing mainly on recycled and sustainable materials. Besides garden ornaments, sculptures and the occasional dog portrait, she makes a variety of bird feeders, bird boxes and planters. In 2019/20 she's creating a sculpture park within 2 acres of oak woodland close to the River Avon.

Julie's knowledge and love of willow sculptures and gardens will inspire your own creativity and provide you an introduction to this natural artform, and the opportunity to choose what you make and take it away with you.

The 90 minute workshop will include:

  • a practical introduction to making willow and twine sculptures and bowls

  • the opportunity to make a small bowl, sphere or fat ball bird feeder to take away

*Please bring pruners if you have them, all other materials will be provided.

This workshop is running alongside the St Peter's Hospice Open Gardens Weekend on 7th and 8th September. The Gardens will be open to the public 10am - 3pm on both days and the purchase of your ticket to this workshop includes entry to the Gardens. All money raised from our workshops and Open Gardens weekend goes directly to supporting patient care in our Hospice and across our wider Bristol community. Thank you for your support.
