Event description

Description

Are you looking for a really original Christmas gift for the special people in your life and want to combine this with doing something fun and different? Aimed at complete jewellery beginners or those with a little silversmithing experience, this is an introduction to how to make your very own piece of seashell jewellery using silver clay.

Silver clay is a compound made up of particles of fine silver, non-toxic organic binder and water. Once fired the binder burns off to leave a beautiful piece of fine silver which is 99.9% pure and of hallmark quality.

On the day I’ll guide you through some of the key techniques required to produce a beautiful seashell pendant to take home at the end.

You’ll learn:
• how to prepare and handle the clay
• how to create a mould of your seashell
• basic construction
• refining, drying and firing
• adding patina
• finishing and polishing
• basic health and safety for silversmithing

The cost includes moulding compound and the pure silver clay you'll use (7g) and which is sufficient to make at least two pendants or a pendant and a pair of earrings Additional silver clay, sterling silver chains and earring fittings will all be available to buy.

You are able to bring your own specially selected seashell to the session to make it extra personal, or I will have some that you can use.
