Care Providers Urged to Attend Vital Meetings on Future of Sector
Social care providers across York and North Yorkshire—whether members of the Independent Care Group (ICG) or not—are being urged to attend one of two crucial meetings to shape the future of care in the region and also across England.
The ICG is inviting providers to come together and help decide what action should be taken—both locally and nationally—in response to the fee levels paid by Commissioners for social care services and the government’s lack of support for the social care sector.
The two meetings will take place on Tuesday 10th June at 6.30pm at Skipton Town Hall and on Thursday 12th June at 6.00pm at St Lawrence Community Hall in York. Providers are encouraged to attend whichever session is most convenient for them.
Mike Padgham, Chair of the Independent Care Group, said:
"We are at a critical crossroads. The fees being paid by North Yorkshire Council and City of York Council and the ICB are simply not enough to sustain quality care. These meetings are a once-and-only chance for providers—members and non-members alike—to have their voices heard and to give us a clear mandate on how to proceed. We can’t afford to stay silent."
The ICG says the meetings will be an open forum for providers to share their views and help decide what collective action the sector should take to secure fairer funding and better support for the vital work they do.
"This is about the future of care," Mr Padgham added. "We need to know where you stand, and we need your voice in the room. Please attend."
