Description

Make your Film is the first of a brand new event in association with the Filmmakers podcast. It is run by Indie filmmakers for Indie filmmakers with guest speakers giving real and honest advice on how they got their films made against the odds in innovative ways.

This first event has 6 panelists who have all made their own feature films independently, as Director, Producer or Actors and there are some remarkable stories of how they did it!


Daisy Aitkens - Already recognised for her work in the industry, Daisy recently directed her first feature You, Me & Him, starring David Tennant and Lucy Punch to critical acclaim. He has made many ads, promos and award winning shorts. Dom Lenoir - Dom Directed & produced his 1st feature age 20 and achieved his goal of 3 features before 30 yrs old with Winter Ridge https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5973658/ starring Alan Ford (Snatch, Lock Stock) and Oscar winning sound designer Glen Freemantle (Gravity) which had a 25 screen cinema release and 16 festival awards. He has also shot his films in Germany, Spain, Sicily and Austria. His next film in development His Name Is James is written by Daniel Graham whose last script attracted and featured Willem Dafoe.

Matt Hookings - Producer and Lead actor of Winter Ridge (which he also stars) & I Love My Mum features. He founded production company Camelot films www.camelot-films.co.uk with a slate of films about to shoot, such as boxing epic Prizefighter. He has also made many award winning shorts films including Shoe Polish, and Then and Now.

His story of fundraising and cast attachment is almost miraculous and he achieved even more credit for revealing after the film that he managed to do the whole thing whilst legally blind, which no one knew at the time. The film stars Billy Zane (Titanic) and was official selection at Edinburgh Film Festival. He’s also made two short films Diamonds & The Window.

Jenna Suru - Director, only producer and lead actress of period drama feature film L’Age d’or set in more than 35 exceptional locations across France & USA and soundtrack including titles from Jimmy Reed, Chuck Berry, the Stones.
