About the Workshop
This focused 90-minute workshop launches a 12-month international programme to co-produce a practical Metaverse Ontology v1.0 using AI and expert validation.
The goal: to create a shared, standardised vocabulary for the metaverse that can be adopted by industry, policymakers and standards bodies to reduce ambiguity, support interoperability, and accelerate adoption. This includes multilingual options.
Why Attend?
By joining, you will:
- Influence the priority domains of the ontology (e.g. avatars & identity, interoperability, spatial computing).
- Identify preferred languages in addition to English
- Critique and refine AI-generated candidate terms produced by Visioning Lab’s Ontology Maker process.
- Contribute to an international effort to align metaverse language with real-world applications.
- Become a member of the 12-month programme with early access to draft outputs and ongoing involvement.

The 12-Month Programme
Following this workshop, participants will continue in a structured programme that includes:
- Reviewing existing glossaries and standards (e.g. Metaverse Standards Forum, ISO, IEEE).
- Refining domain-specific glossaries through AI-assisted expert workshops.
- Publishing Metaverse Ontology v1.0 (open access, CC-BY) by the end of the year.
- Developing a clear adoption roadmap with industry and standards bodies.
Practical Details
- Fee: £30 (covers facilitation, materials, AI processing).
- Capacity: Limited to 20 participants to ensure meaningful input.
- Outputs: All discussions transcribed, analysed with AI and shared back with participants.
This is not just a workshop. It’s the start of a practical, international effort to shape the language of the metaverse — and you can be part of it.
