About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

As part of our R&D on our immersive dance performance Where We Meet, we are currently researching how to make the work more accessible. The piece is highly immersive and interactive, with moments of embodied interactions, and makes use of XR technologies, including spatial audio.

We are currently focusing on:

  • d/deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences
  • mobility challenges
  • sensory needs and aspects of dynamic consent

As part of our process, we would like to open the conversation to other practitioners. This workshop is open to theatre makers, accessibility researchers and consultants, XR makers, immersive specialists and anyone interested in the process.

What to expect:

  • A sharing of our process and learnings so far
  • Activities around general approaches to Access and Inclusion for immersive work
  • Activities around co-creative practices
  • Sharing of best practices and experiences within the group

Please note that the session is not meant to be a masterclass nor a presentation. It will be an active discussion between the participants, facilitated through group activities.

Access during the session:

  • The building is wheelchair accessible.
  • If you need anything else, please make sure to answer the access need question on the checkout

This workshop is organised by Unwired Dance Theatre in partnership with Advanced Media Production PROTO. It is part of our 3-day residency where we've been exploring new modalities of access for the piece. To conclude the event, we will also run 3 performances of Where We Meet: on the 20th and 22nd of May.

Unwired Dance Theatre makes immersive and playable experiences at the intersection of dance and technology. From networked wearables to XR, our work questions our sense of empathy, especially when mediated through technology, and often explores what remote connection could look like.
