Event description

Description

Bristol is a prosperous city with a diverse economy and many successful businesses. It has been called the best place to live, yet for many the job market is bleak.

But what makes a job great? And how can one city make sure every worker has a decent job?

Combining forces, the Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees, the Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Initiative, and the TUC South West will be presenting and inviting ideas to look at ways to offer decent jobs and good career prospects for everyone.

Themes to be covered will include:

  • How can Bristol become the first Real Living Wage city that offers fair pay to everyone?

  • What measures are needed to help working people gain new skills and advance careers?

  • How can we promote safe and healthy workplaces?

  • How can we ensure workers get a real voice and say at work?

  • What can the city do to tackle exploitation and hidden work abuses together?
