The 5x5 is a chance to show a line of creative development in a project - built, paper, sketched, planned or, simply, mused - in a friendly atmosphere of peers with beers and nibbles around.
For this iteration - the seventh of the series - we are considering a new, theme-driven approach, within the title of ‘Making by Alternative Means'. By this we mean to capture both different approaches to making things alongside all the processes that existing around and behind the products, spaces, buildings, works, videos, or films that are the result.
It is a celebration of the thinking behind and around a project, illustrated through it, with extra consideration given to the means of production, and the irregular solutions within it.
We have invited a 10 practitioners from a range of creative practices from film to architecture, art to graphics, to discuss 1 project that exemplifies the idea of 'making by alternative means' and challenge them to present it in 5 minutes with 5 slides!
The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial - it is a chance to be curious without judgement and explore other modes of making to inspire, instigate, and involve you!
