Event description

Description

The fashion industry is the world’s second largest contributor to pollution. While talking about ethical commitments has become an expectation for brands, many in the industry are secretly wondering if consumers are willing to put their money where they mouth is. On the other hand, today’s consumers are wary of greenwash and are skeptical of the female empowerment message.

Join us for our last event of 2019 for a discussion by leading industry experts who are making change happen in the factory, on the runway and on the high street. Learn what brands are really doing and how that's impacting sales, marketing and the clothes on your back. The discussion will be followed by Christmas drinks and networking.

Panellists include:

  • Tina Nguyen, CSR expert, Hunter, Primark
  • Smruti Sriram, CEO Supreme Creations (clients include London Fashion Week, Topship, Google)

Moderated by Sophia Matveeva, founder & CEO of Enty, named by Grazia as one of the world's best fashion tech startups.

About the panellists:

Tina Ngyen

Tina specialises in ethical supply chain management in the garment and food industries, working with companies to create business value while promoting social, economic, and environmental justice for workers down the supply chain. Tina heads up Hunter's sustainability programme - from ethical labour practices in the supply chain to designing with environmentally friendly materials. She previously consulted Primark on ethical trading in their factories.

Before transitioning to corporate responsibility and sustainability, she worked for human rights organisations.

Tina holds an M.A. in Human Rights Law with distinction from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a B.A. in International Relations from the College of William and Mary in the US.
