Join us our Resources team as we explore how to make it easier to understand the world of church finance with a choice of workshops to help Treasurers, Gift Aid Secretaries and those with a heart for good stewardship in our churches.
The evening will kick off with refreshments at 7pm followed by a plenary session offering an overview of recent and forthcoming changes to Charity Commission regulations and requirements, summary of the changes to the GASDS scheme, the new analysis section on the Giving in Grace website and we will briefly outline Steve Pierce’s book, Beyond the Collection Plate, discussing some of the income streams and how this excellent resource can help churches in their stewardship ministry.
Then a series of workshops will provide information and a chance to ask questions about the Parish Giving Scheme, Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme, Beyond the Collection Plate and Trustee Essentials.
1. The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) (Cath Gaskell) – Why not join the 80 churches in the Diocese of Liverpool who are already using this exciting, new, free resource. It will help your church members plan their giving and the tax is claimed on your behalf by the PGS team. The scheme is tried and tested in sixteen dioceses and they all highly recommend it for tackling static levels of giving and significantly reducing administration time for their Treasurers and Gift Aid Secretaries.
2. The Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (Kim Stanley) - An essential session for those parishes who haven’t yet attended a briefing on this new scheme, which is currently potentially worth £2,000 to your church (£1,250 until April 2016). Those wanting a refresher and update on the latest requirements from April 2017 are also welcome.
3. Beyond the Collection Plate (Steve Pierce) – This session will guide you through other income streams -Learn how and why you should set up a friends scheme to encourage the non-Christian community to help support their church, see how digital giving could benefit your church and put you in touch with the younger generation, the value of legacies – a gift of life.
4. Trustee Essentials (Gordon Fath) – Come along to hear the essential up to date information for all PCC and DCC trustees to help you meet their legal duties to safeguard your church’s money and ensure the quality of your financial reporting.
