Event description

Description

Making It in July focuses on the art of puppetry - one the most ancient and most versatile art forms, and can be incorporated into any production, at any budget and any level of experience.

Art in Motion is a hands-on workshop with Ciel Dafford, participants will look at the basic principles of puppetry, a brief overview of types of puppetry, their history, and how they can be combined and re-invented for the modern, digital era. And of course we’ll experiment with puppet-making, all materials will be provided.

Ciel Dafford is a former full-time puppeteer with Puppet Arts Theatre, performing as Pinocchio and Indri the Toad Prince amongst other roles over several years. She has created sets, built puppets, and designed costumes for performances for The Dancer’s Group, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Puppet Arts Theatre. She is currently designing costumes for a production of Dracula.

Please arrive at the venue for 6.45pm to allow time to register and have some light refreshments.

Please note: IOU is a registered charity and Making It sessions are free but for those who can afford to make a contribution suggest a donation of £3 payable on the night.
