Event description
Making it Real: Co-Creating Trauma-Informed Spaces across Kent and Medway

About this Event

Interest and activity around preventing, identifying and mitigating the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) is building across Kent and Medway. However, this is a complex area of work that requires a response which extends across sectors, including health, social care, policing, education, community and others, and across the life course from early childhood through to adulthood.

This second conference will build on the learning from the January 2019 launch event by focusing on how we support feelings of safety at the level of individual, setting and community as we develop trauma informed practice across sectors. Speakers will include:

- People with lived experience of childhood adversity

- Practitioners beginning to use trauma informed practice in their work including routine enquiry

- Setting based approaches, with examples from schools and the community.

The conference will include local and national learning and workshop discussions to help inform the work of the ACE action groups (set up after the first conference) including test and action learning projects.

We are inviting colleagues from adult social care, children’s and families social care, youth offending services, NHS CCGs, STPs, NHS Primary and Secondary care, schools, sexual health services, health visiting and maternity services, drug and alcohol services, the police and any others who feel this would be relevant for them in their work.
