The Council for Disabled Children and KIDS are working together to deliver a new national participation programme with disabled children and young people, and children and young people with SEN.
We are delighted to announce our third national event to promote and develop young people’s strategic participation .
Disabled children and young people and those with SEN understand the changes to the law and how it affects them
Practitioners understand how to involve disabled children and young people and those with SEN in decisions about their support and care; and
Disabled children and young people and those with SEN are able to influence national and local policy and practice development, and their voices are embedded within strategic participation locally.
We aim to ensure that most of our workshops are co-produced and co-delivered with young people, so that practitioners can hear directly from young people about their experiencesof participation and how they think it should work.
Highlights from previous conferences include keynote speeches from the Department for Education, Minister for Children & Families Edward Timpson and Dame Christine Lenehan. Previous workshops include: how to work with young people with communication needs (run by The Communication Trust) a session on EHC plans run by FLARE, young national advisors to DfE, and young people's perspective of participation (run by KIDS and young people)
Please register your attendance and details above. A full agenda and further details about this event will be made available in the near future.
