About this event

🌟Making Progress, Achieving Stability - Two Essentials of Placement Success 🌟

Join us for an engaging free online webinar on Monday 21st July at 12:00pm to explore the topic of residential placement success and aims to positively challenge participants to think seriously about what makes a successful placement and the essential, though often neglected, focus on progress and shared responsibility which that involves.

Every young person entering the care system is on a journey, not only to recover from the trauma of family breakdown, separation and adversity, but also to achieve the skills and resilience needed to thrive in a world with limited support This is a journey that faces multiple challenges, and although placement stability is certainly necessary, it is never sufficient in itself to achieve success. The journey is seldom without difficulties and the more ambitious progress goals are, the more challenging these difficulties can be. This can sometimes lead both providers and commissioners to settle for stability at the cost of progress, particularly when there is a troubled history. The importance of understanding the critical role of progress and a shared responsibility for change cannot be overestimated. Young people have limited time for the journey and the systems designed to protect and support them must have a shared understanding of success and the conditions required to create it.
