Making Sale a Child Asthma Friendly Town
Event Information
About this Event
Every 20 minute across the UK, a child is admitted to hospital with asthma (NHS England).
Nearly all child asthma deaths are avoidable (National Review of Asthma Deaths 2014).
What if citizens came together to learn just 5 things in 1 hour about asthma?
What if organisations became accredited as 'child asthma friendly'?
- So everywhere the child went in our town, they would feel supported?
BreathChamps CIC is a social enterprise based in Sale, led by a former child with uncontrolled asthma who is now an award-winning nurse entrepreneur.
In an hour of fun and games, you'll learn
- How to spot an asthma attack and what to do
- How the two most common inhalers work & debunking myths
- Common mistakes in inhaler technique
- Why children need an asthma action plan
- Why an annual asthma review and flu vaccination are critical
Our special guests include Darth Vader, who needs help to take his inhaler and Big Bad Piers Morgan, who can't blow the 3 piggies houses down!
From Housing Associations to Brown Owls: Would you know what to do if a child had an asthma attack in front of you?
If all your staff do the training, BreathChamps will send you a certificate of accreditation and a logo for you to display, so families can be confident that you are looking out for their children and you feel confident that you know what to do!
This event is for adults and contains adult themes! If you would like an asthma awareness event for children please email breathchamps@brightnessmanagement.org.uk
