Description

Making School Lunchtimes Better

Lunchtimes account for more than a year of a school life for a child. Such a huge time commitment needs to be given the time and investment that it deserves. We know that a great deal of social and emotional learning goes on at lunchtime. We also know that it is a high priority for the children because they see it as their time; for eating, for play and for being with their friends.

This programme of learning is designed for a senior midday supervisor and aims to:

- Clarify roles and responsibilities;

- Review a range of skills and techniques to promote positive behaviour;

- Create a calm dining room using evidence-based best practice;

- Review play and its importance at lunchtime;

- Identify how a good lunchtime can significantly help improve a child’s readiness for learning in the afternoon.
