Making Sense of Autism - Adult Basic Awareness
Overview
This session will:
· Enhance your understanding and awareness of autism and the three areas of difference that affect autistic participants and volunteers
· Equip you with the knowledge you need to begin to make reasonable adjustments in the way you support autistic participants and volunteers
Learning objectives
After completing this module you will be able to:
· Approach autism as a difference and celebrate autistic strengths.
· Understand how three areas of difference can affect autistic people.
· Appreciate how important it is to learn from the perspectives of autistic people and to get to know the person as an individual.
· Reflect on and implement reasonable adjustments to support autistic people you work with or support
The training is being delivered by the Autism Education Trust training hub and Outreach Team from Woodley School.
Please note: This event is organised by TSL Kirklees - a local charity that gives free support, advice and training to any charity, community group or social enterprise in Kirklees - and is only open to any workers, trustees or volunteers from third sector organisations based or working in Kirklees.
