Event description

Description

We are delighted to welcome Dietmar Küchemann who has recently been posting sets of algebra tasks on Twitter (via his alter ego @ProfSmudge) and writing more extensively about them in a blog (http://mathsmed.co.uk/ALGblog/). The tasks are intended to help students make sense of school algebra, by focussing on structure. The tasks aim to help convey the ‘purpose and utility’ of algebra.

In this session, we would like to work through some of the tasks and consider how they might be used in the classroom, and to share any experiences participants might have had of trying them with their students.

If you have already been to one of our events this year and paid your £10 then you are covered for this event. Otherwise please pay cash on the day, which also covers you for our upcoming Summer Conference on 23rd June (more details to follow). The charge is to cover the travel costs of the presenters during the year. No charge for ITT students.
