Hosted by experienced journalist and broadcaster, Siân Lloyd, Daring to Dream’s ‘Making Space to talk about Emotional Health and Living with Illness’ event focuses on the critical role of emotional health in supporting individuals and those close to them to live well with illness.

Few charities talk about emotional health as a standalone, necessary part of living with illness. This is although the lives of 1.2 million adults in Wales are changed because they live with physical illness. Illness that also impacts on the lives of their families, carers, clinicians and allies.

The event features speakers with diverse backgrounds in living with illness, caregiving, and clinical practice.

Daring to Dream supports the emotional health and wellbeing of the 1.2 million adults in Wales living with physical illness.

Our emotional response to illness is a natural human reaction and does not indicate a mental health problem.

Therefore, Daring to Dream is not a mental health charity, but an emotional health one.

It strives to enable those living with illness to:

- Are supported in leading fulfilling lives through both emotional and clinical care,

- Experience a reduced risk of developing mental health issues related to physical illness.

Good emotional health empowers people to live their best lives with illness, not just survive it.

By nurturing strong emotional health, individuals are not only empowered to manage their illnesses but also to significantly enhance their quality of life.
