Event description

Description

***YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF STAFF AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON TO BOOK ON THIS WORKSHOP***

Would benefit: academic staff mentors and academic staff who wish to be mentors or who are being mentored and wish to know how to make the most of the mentoring framework

This workshop is a repeat of the earlier very successful workshops run by Kirsten Paulsen from KMP in May 2016. The purpose of this highly interactive workshop for research staff is to provide insight into modern mentoring techniques and tools, exploring the benefits of mentoring for the mentee as well as the mentor, and creating a solid foundation for a valuable learning process for both mentors and mentees. The key tool will be the Mentor+Game, an innovative game that will help clarify the different mentoring roles or communication styles that mentors can use to address specific mentee needs. Through the game, the mentors will explore the pros and cons of the different roles, gain a deeper understanding of the potential value of mentoring, and identify potential learning themes for the mentees.

Previous feedback: “The focus and level of detail the workshop encouraged was extremely useful”
