Making the most of the spotlight: stagecraft for public speaking
Thu 21 July 2016, 18:30 – 21:00 BST
We all know there is more to public speaking than standing up and talking particularly if it is not your favourite thing to do. This session will go over some of the tricks of the theatre trade to ensure you can command your audience, make yourself heard and maybe even enjoy your time in the lime light.
Using both singing and acting techniques that can be adapted for any public speaking occasion this interactive session will cover.
Posture and movement when speaking
Calming stage fright
The session will be delivered by Liz Yoxall a Sheffield based enterprise and employability consultant, musical director of Glee Bah Gum Community Choir, singing teacher and general drama queen! She has studied vocal techniques for over 10 years and has participated in both amateur and professional productions across the country. She is passionate about working with people of all ages to develop confidence and help them find their voice.
