Making the strategic case for the Circular Economy

Ian Ellison, based on his experience leading Sustainability in Product Development at Jaguar Land Rover, will explore the strategic justification for companies to embrace the circular economy and how this needs to be enabled through the ‘rewiring’ of the economy.

About the Presenter

Ian Ellison manages sustainability at Jaguar Land Rover, from a product development perspective. Previous posts included Corporate Responsibility Director (Aerospace & Defence sector), addressing sustainable development, climate change, eco-efficiency, sustainable procurement and corporate reporting. Prior roles include Strategic Change Director and Head of Information Systems and Strategy. Previous industry experience includes software, IT and electronics. Ian has an Engineering degree and a CISL Master’s degree in Sustainability Leadership, is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Management Accountant, Chartered IT Professional and he is a CISL Senior Associate. Ian’s research interests include the incorporation of sustainability strategy into core business and the development of the suitable language, models and metrics to enable this. To date, this has involved: valuing natural capital through environmental profit and loss and product life cycle impact assessment. This has led to work on circular economy, resource efficiency, product efficiency and new business models.
