Making the Sustainability Case for the UK to Remain in the EU (BREXIT)
Event Information
Description
With the UK committed to voting on the 23rd June on whether to remain in or to leave the European Union many in the UKs sustainability sector are left asking: What BREXIT mean for the UKs sustainability profession and those who work in the UKs thriving sustainability sector?
We too are asking those questions around the EU Referendum. Would Brexit put the UKs push for sustainable finance be put at risk? In the event of BREXIT would there be a bonfire of environmental regulations and a race to the bottom in environmental protection? Would critical safeguards for conservation be jettisoned? Would the UKs critical renewable energy industry be put at risk? Would the UKs global influence on climate change policy and environmental protection be weakened? Is the UKs environment StrongerIn?
We have pulled together an excellent panel of speakers:
Pilita Clark, Environment Correspondent, FT (Chair);
Tony Juniper, President, The Wildlife Trusts, Leading Environmentalist;
Ed Davey (LibDem) Former Secretary of State, Energy & Climate Change;
Shahrar Ali, Deputy Leader, The Green Party; and
Mary Creagh MP, (Labour), Chair, Parliamentary Environmental Audit Committee; and
Caroline Spelman MP (Conservative) (invited), Former Secretary of State for Environment.
If you are concerned by the implications of BREXIT for the UKs sustainability sector there will also be a chance for you to discuss what you can do in the run-up to the Referendum.
