About this Event
Did you know that 53.6% of disabled people in the UK are employed – compared to 81.7% of non-disabled people?
With many businesses digitising, utilising remote working during the pandemic and introducing flexible working, this webinar will look at how to make the workplace inclusive for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions.
Hear from our panel Sarah Ward, Head of HR at Meridian Business Support, Katie Draper, Ambassador Network Coordinator at the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, Victoria Passant, programme manager for youth employment and Daniel Wiles training and consultancy manager at Leonard Cheshire. Chaired by David Jessop, Executive Director of People at Leonard Cheshire, there will also be an opportunity to submit questions live at the end.
Sarah, will reflect on how the team have adapted their HR operations to support their workforce over recent months and how they have prepared for 2021. As a member of the governments Disability Confident scheme the organisation hold the ‘Employer’ level accreditation and are working toward the third and final ‘Leader’ level status. We will explore the organisational benefits of becoming ‘Disability Confident’ and how it supports your employees.
77% of students and recent graduates with disabilities in the UK fear they will be discriminated against if they share information.
Katie who participated in the Leonard Cheshire graduate internship programme Change 100 in 2017 will talk about this talent programme that connects talented disabled students and graduates with some of the UK’s best-known employers, through paid summer internships.
In response to Covid-19 the programme innovated quickly to provide fully remote internship opportunities. 160 leading employers, large and small, have participated in the scheme, including Meridian Business Support.
The aim of the session is to gain an understanding of how, Leonard Cheshire can support your organisation to be more disability confident and to inform employers in the North West about the benefits and opportunities available to companies engaging in our graduate internship programme in 2021.
