Outputs, outcomes and impact in designing projects for economic growth: making sure you have the right ladder against the right wall.
Training for people working in local economic growth – local authorities, combined authorities and LEPs.
Logic models are used commonly in bid writing - you may have been asked to submit a logic model for the Levelling Up Fund. But how could you use them more effectively?
Logic models are useful at every point from shortlisting your projects for a bid, to improving your strategic case; from presenting the project to decision-makers, to reviewing your quarterly monitoring reports. Your logic model gives you a thread that helps you test assumptions, make sure you're on the right track, and, critically, tell the narrative of your project.
This short workshop will use practical exercises to review logic models in policy design and delivery. We'll give you examples and tools to take back to your colleagues to help them make best use of logic models throughout the project lifecycle--not just when writing a bid.
Participants: For people working in local authorities, combined authorities, and LEPs.
Join as a team of 2 or more colleagues, or we'll buddy up participants for follow-up support in applying what you've learned.
This course will assume that you haven't done any work on logic models beforehand, but is still useful for those with some experience.
Pre-work: You need to come to the workshop with a live or potential project in mind that you want to use as an example. If you are attending with colleagues, we'd recommend that you use the same project. Make sure that you have enough information to talk about the need for/context of the project.
You may also want to see where logic models are being used at the moment in your team -- when preparing all bids, or just when required by the funder? when writing strategy? when commissioning skills/business support providers?
