MAKING WORDS INTO PICTURES: BREAKING THE STORY
Storyboarding for film, TV and other narrative media

Script + Director + Storyboard Artist = Film.
This course offers insight into a crucial stage in the early development of film, tv and other projects.
The storytelling skills involved in making pictures from a typed script are unique, joining the minds of scriptwriter, storyboard artist and director.
Each represents a link in the chain of a story process.
This session will discuss and explain through practical exercises how these links are forged, what makes the chain stronger and what can also break it.

A conceptual understanding of the unique creative process that occurs between the director and the storyboard artist.
A practical understanding of the preparation, development & completion of storyboards to a finished level ready for filming.
This course benefits from Mike Nicholson's 20 year + career in creating professional storyboards for film projects from advertising campaigns to award-winning TV comedy to movies. It will cover essential principles and offer rare insights into the unique process between director and storyboard artist, as well as adaptable suggestions as to how visual style and consistency can be achieved. What you will need to bring
An open mind and an interest in storyboarding. If you have your own drawing materials (sketchbook, pencils, pens) please bring with you. We will provide all of the basic requirements for this course.
