Description

There is a growing awareness of the importance of research data and in particular the importance of sharing research data to allow reuse. A commitment to making data openly available is now a key requirement of many research funding bodies and some publishing houses.

Course content

During this session we will discuss the open data movement as well as looking at why data management is important. We will briefly examine best practice in data management. Looking particularly at data descriptors and metadata. We will help you to identify what data you should keep and what data should be made openly available. We will cover funder requirements, data licences and open repositories as well as taking a look at the LJMU Data Repository.

You should attend this session if:

  • You are interested in Open Research Data and wish to know more
  • You are in receipt of Research Council or other external funding
  • You are interested in applying for Research Council or other external funding
  • You are a PhD student and would like to make your research data openly available
  • You supervise PhD students and wish to encourage them to make their data openly available
