Makings, Mediators and Materialities: a geographical framework
Thu 13 October 2016, 18:30 – 20:00 BST
Peckham Platform’s Researcher in Residence Dr Danny McNally invites you to celebrate the publication of his research, ‘Methodologies of Socially Engaged Art’. This event presents a talk, discussion and launch of two associated publications offering a geographical framework through which to investigate socially engaged art.
Danny’s talk, entitled ‘Makings, Mediators and Materialities: a geographical framework’, will focus on his research practice which is concerned with the broader network of relations which participatory art practice is situated within. This approach offers fresh insight into issues such as cultural labour and economy, artistic production and object agency. Following this, Danny McNally will be in conversation with Tim Dixon, Peckham Platform’s Gallery Manager, to discuss Peckham Platform’s emerging status as a research hub for social arts practice.
Cultural Geographer Dr Danny McNally has been leading the research project ‘Methodologies of Socially Engaged Art’ in collaboration with Peckham Platform and Royal Holloway University of London.
