We're delighted to invite our alumni continuing professional development and networking event we're hosting in Kuala Lumpur in October.

Going Global: Innovating, Collaborating and Leading
Professor
Roger Eccleston, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement), Sheffield Hallam University

Context: Increased global connectivity provides exciting opportunities for living, learning and working. The ability to engage across national and cultural boundaries is becoming increasingly critical to success. The benefits of doing so can be significant with international collaboration leading to the development of innovative ideas and products.

Profile: Professor Eccleston is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences, where he leads a broad range of disciplines. His research focus is on quantum magnetism using large-scale facilities, such as neutron sources. Professor Eccleston is an alumnus of Sheffield Hallam University and he also holds a PhD in physics from the University of Warwick.

Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail Project - what's in it for you?
Professor Khalid Hasnan, Director of Industrial Centre of Excellence for Railway

Context: With a nearly RM 50 billion of investment, this project is one of the most ambitious programmes that the government of Malaysia has ever embarked on. It will bring about economic growth to both nations and it will also spur the creation of jobs, increase tourism, cultural diversity, and real estate opportunities. It will also open up a plethora of opportunities for graduates already employed in different sectors.

Profile: Before his current appointment, Professor Khalid Hasnan was Deputy Dean (Research and Development) and Deputy Dean (Academic and Internationalisation) in the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He led the establishment of Railway Engineering Program in the University, the first in South East Asia. Professor Khalid Hasnan is an alumnus from Sheffield Hallam University.

Profile: Professor Terrence Perera is a well-known academic, researcher and consultant in the area of computer modelling and simulation. He has extensive experience in developing and delivering research and knowledge transfer projects in a range of industries including, aerospace, automotive, healthcare, food, postal services and logistics/supply chain sectors.
