Malgola, No! is a Polish art pop songwriter and producer, whose love of the Super FurryAnimals had brought her to Wales in 2017.
The love appeared to be mutual, since SFA'sGruff Rhys' named Malgola's debut album “A/B” his favourite of 2016.So far, Malgola released 5 albums, shifting from genre to genre, but always having songand melody in the heart of her compositions.
Despite homemade production, Malgola, No!'s music was played on BBC Radio Walesand Polish Radio 3, and featured in God Is In The TV Zine, Bandcamp Daily, CLASHMagazine and BUZZ Magazine Wales (incuding a whole 'One to watch' column), as wellas many influencial Polish media outlets like WPROST, Gazeta Wyborcza and K Mag.
Malgola, No!'s singles were featured on Spotify playlists: EQUAL, Fresh Finds, AlternativePoland and New Welsh Indie.Małgola, No!'s latest release 'Memory Loss' exploring R&B genres, was longlisted for theWelsh Music Prize 2024.This year, Małgola, No! has joined the Welsh cohort of the Global Network for WomenMusic Producers.
She has been awarded BBC Horizons Launchpad Fund and HelpMusicians Next Level Fund to record a new album with musicians of the BBC NationalOrchestra of Wales and the engineer/producer Charlie Francis (R.E.M., Robyn Hitchcock,The High Llamas).Malgola, No! performs, either solo or with a band, making every gig an adventure.
So far,Małgola, No! played at big showcase festivals including: Liverpool Sound City, NEXT Fest,FOCUS Wales and Sŵn Festival.Outside of writing songs, Malgola, No! composes music for film.
Her most notable worksare soundtracks to Polish director Bartosz Toboła's shorts called 'Chatka' ('The Hut'),available on Canal+, and 'Test' ('The Test'), awarded and nominated at many internationalfestivals, including a nomination for best soundtrack at Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest 2021.
