Overview / aim
A training session to provide staff of any role with basic skills in identifying the potential signs of malnutrition, and how to provide support to people at risk.
An additional (optional) workshop will be provided at the end of the main session to provide training on how to screen for malnutrition using 'MUST'. This workshop is suitable for healthcare workers (e.g. community nurses, practice nurses and doctors).

15:00 - 15:30: Workshop "How to do 'MUST' screening"
Explain why good nutrition is important
Identify the uses, consquences and signs of malnutrition
Identify simple ways of supporting people with malnutrition
Identify trigger questions for effective conversations
Know the most appropriate healthcare professionals to signpost to
Be familiar with malnutrition awareness resources that can be used to support people
Be able to screen using 'MUST' (optional workshop only)
Venue & travel
Desborough Hall is on the ground floor, with wheelchair access. Wells Place is adjacent to the Swan Centre (entrance by McDonalds). Refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) will be provided. Please note there is no parking available at the venue. Parking is available in the Swan Centre or Mitchell Road car parks (pay & display). Alternatively, you may be able to find on-street parking in certain surrounding roads where you can park for 2 hours free. It’s only a 5 minute walk (0.4 miles) from Eastleigh station (train and bus) if you choose to take public transport.
