Event Details

Join us to hear our panel chat about the books on the Man Booker Prize shortlist. Will you agree with their views? Which book will get your vote? How can the judges compare six very different titles and choose one above all others? Don’t miss this evening of fascinating live chat about the Man Booker – the perfect preparation for the winner announcement which is broadcast on TV later the same evening.

Taking part in the discussion will be two exciting guests:

Judith Allnatt  (pictured) – acclaimed short story writer and novelist. She is the author of four novels including A Mile of River which was a Radio 5 Live Book of the Month and was shortlisted for the Portico Prize for Literature; The Poet's Wife, shortlisted for the East Midlands Book Award, and her latest novel, The Silk Factory - a beautiful and eerie story of love and memory. She lives with her family in Northamptonshire and is working on her fifth novel.

Graham Caveney – whose memoir The Boy with the Perpetual Nervousness (Picador) has been described as “A defiant, important memoir”  (Observer). Graham has written on music and fiction for the NME, The Face and the Independent, and is the author of three books, including one on William Burroughs and one on Allen Ginsberg. He currently lives in Beeston.

The annual event will again be chaired by our regular, book-loving host Sheelagh Gallagher and this year takes place on the night of the announcement of the winner of the Man Booker Prize 2017. Come along to hear our panel chat about the books, discover their tips for the title, before heading home to hear the announcement later that night.
