Event description

Description

Great Place Wentworth and Elsecar are excited to be bringing the Man Engine, 2017 National Lottery award winner, to Yorkshire, following his eagerly awaited resurrection tour of Cornwall and Wales. Man Engine is the largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain and he is coming to Wentworth and Elsecar where he will be the ‘star’ of spectacular daytime and evening events.

Wentworth Woodhouse will host Man Engine ‘afternooner’ on Sunday 24th June, where he will be greeted by the Earl Fitzwilliam for a 1940s vintage picnic. The Man Engine ‘ceremony’ will be a spectacular 45 minute performance involving lights, pyrotechnics and fireworks. The performance will start at 3pm.

There will be afternoon entertainment prior to the ceremony, including live music, street theatre and acrobats. There will be an array of excellent food, drinks and craft producers on site for you to enjoy, but feel free to bring your own picnic if you prefer - don't forget your picnic blanket!

To ensure everyone's enjoyment of the event, visitors are asked not to bring alcohol on to site. Please also note that bag searches will be in operation.

Please be aware there will be pyrotechnics.

There is a no dogs policy at this event.
