Programme Overview

This 8 week group programme called MB-EAT is a new approach to managing weight and eating which may be especially helpful for those with stress related, emotional and binge eating.

We all eat mindlessly at times - eating in front of the television, having lunch while working at the computer, eating in the car or simply finishing what is on the plate because its there. Sometimes we eat as a way of coping with stress or emotions although we often don’t taste much of this food beyond the first few mouthfuls.

If you’ve dieted over many years you may have lost touch with many of the internal signals that tell us when we’ve had enough food. You may have developed habits that are difficult to change and blame yourself for your struggle. Mindfulness helps us reconnect the mind and body so we can improve our awareness of the bodies internal signals, begin to change some of the automatic eating patterns that trip us up when we try and manage weight and move away from the guilt and self blame which many people feel.

Through mindful eating exercises and meditation you will learn

  • How to tune into your bodies powerful hunger signals – recognizing the sensations and their strength and comparing to impulses to eat for other reasons such as stress or anxiety

  • How to truly taste food and reconnect to your inner gourmet – our taste buds begin to get tired after only a few bites but we usually continue eating because the food is there.

  • To understand when you’ve had enough – recognizing the sensations of when the stomach is just full enough and learn to tune into the body’s satiety signals.

  • How to choose foods wisely for enjoyment and health. This involves letting go of the dieting mentality and self-criticism that often go hand in hand with managing weight.

  • How to cultivate your knowledge of nutrition without anxiety. This helps people move away from being anxious about calories or nutritional information and towards non judgemental curiosity.

Programme Schedule

This programme will be taught over eight weekly classes from Thursday 7th September until Thursday 26th October 2017. Each class will be an hour and 45 minutes and will take place between 10am -11.45pm. The group will be limited to a maximum of 10 participants.


Programme Facilitatator

The programme will be facilitated by Dr Clare Grace, a registered dietitian, nutritionist and MB-EAT facilitator with extensive experience in weight management. For many years Clare worked in several NHS specialist weight management clinics in London but having relocated to Yorkshire she has established her own private practice – www.relishnutritionconsultancy.com.

Cancellation Policy

If you decide to cancel your place on this programme a full refund will be given minus a £20 administration fee if notice is given 7 days before the first class. If you decide to cancel after the second class a 75% refund will be given and after the third class a 50% refund will be provided. No refund will be given if cancellation occurs after the third class.

If the course is cancelled by the organizer a full refund will be provided.

FAQ

What if I miss a class?

Although attending the classes is important there may be times when this isn’t possible. In such situations catch up sessions can be provided and this is usually as a one to one lasting about 30-45 minutes.


Will I be sent any other information before the class starts?

Yes I will send out further information about the class schedule, venue and facilities in an email one week before the programme starts. This will also include a questionnaire that should be completed and returned or brought to the first session.
