Management of Historic Cemeteries - North West
Wed 14 June 2017, 09:30 – 16:30
This course aims to raise awareness about the significance of historic cemeteries, and will encourage delegates to think about practical methods for achieving conservation. The day includes a site visit to Philips Park Cemetery.
Who is this event suitable for?
This course is aimed at people who manage historic cemeteries, such as local authority staff, diocesan staff, or Trusts/Friends groups. It would also be useful for local authority conservation staff that deal with planning applications affecting designated cemeteries.
By the end of the day delegates will:
1) Appreciate what is significant about historic cemeteries.
2) Understand how cemeteries can be managed and protected through the planning process and conservation areas.
3) Be able to assess when and how a Conservation Management Plan can be an effective tool in managing historic cemeteries.
4) Have begun to develop a practical action plan to deal with historic cemeteries under their influence.
