Event description

Description

This Management & Leadership training is designed to provide delegates with the inspirational information they need to understand the attributes, behaviours and practices associated with management & leadership, two distinct but often linked job roles. The course is broken into four key areas covered over the 2 days.

COURSE CONTENT

Trainer gives welcome and overview of the day & course in full. Delegates introduce themselves and are encouraged to give a brief outline of their own learning goals. The outline and aims of the 2-day course are then covered and individuals learning goals are linked to the training content. (Note: The Trainer will come back to these individual learning goals throughout the course duration)

DAY ONE:

CRITICAL THINKING & ANALYSIS

- Delegates explore their own understanding of management and leadership, separating out the key skills, attitudes and knowledge required for each.

- Personal reflection is encouraged to identifying these key elements in others they have worked with in senior roles or aspire to.

- Delegates are then encouraged to explore & use ‘critical thinking’ to assess their own beliefs, attitudes and value systems and are asked to critically assess management practices and theories introduced in relation to management versus leadership.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE TO ENHANCE MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP ABILITY

- Discover explore Emotional Intelligence, as a psychological construct and consider its importance as part of the modern working environment.

- This is a theory based & practical section, which involves personal reflection, using Thomas Internationals TEQuie assessment as part of the workshop and encourages group discussion of outcomes. The key to this analysis is that there are no right or wrong outcomes, providing insight into key topics such as stress management, conflict, impulse, empathy, relationship management, communications, wellbeing.

- Delegates are asked to link their own abilities to manage their emotions and those of others to gain greater understanding to enhance their management and leadership behaviours.

REVIEW AND CONCLUSION OF DAYS SESSION:

Review of the days content. Delegates own learning goals are re-examined in relation to the course activities from the day. Approaches are covered to apply learning to the delegates’ own current working environments.

DAY TWO:

INFLUENCE, INNOVATION AND CHANGE

- Providing understanding on these three core areas; how to exert influence, identify the need for innovation and/or change and then how to propose and enable these, exploring the tools and leadership models available to manage change.

- Delegates review a real work-based change management project, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the project, and the outcomes related to the tools and leadership models explored.

- Discussion based review of any challenges within the sphere of influence, innovation & change management that delegates are faced with or have identified, utilising learning in this section to map out approaches and action points to consider.

DIRECTION & RESULTS

- Delegates explore management models to enhance their hand-on management of teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives, whilst making strong and informed management decisions.

- A review of how to action the strategy to achieve results by managing for efficiency and effectiveness, through delegation and performance management, understanding how to use resources and information to achieve desired outcomes.
