We build on the well-known Parent-Adult-Child model from TA that will be familiar to many and briefly covered here to set the scene. The Functional Fluency model derives from the original TA theory developed by Eric Berne in the late 1950s. The model we explore today is based on Dr Susannah Temple’s acclaimed work developed from the late 90s onwards.
It maps out a range of fundamental behaviours we recognise in daily life. It provides a framework for using our energy more effectively by noticing and changing habitual responses, and being more embodied. It also helps change the tone and culture around us, as we become more adept in optimising relationships professionally and personally.
You can use this as a resource to share with clients, and to inform your own practice. After a short learning session, we’ll apply this to a live scenario, so come prepared with an issue you’re willing to unpack.
