About this event

Overview

Oncology treatment options have expanded exponentially with the introduction of complex multi-drug regimens, immunotherapies and advanced targeted therapies . Toxicities from these therapies are challenging for clinical staff who care for oncology patients. Improved patient treatment options result in improved survival outcomes, necessitating more personalised approaches to cancer complications. This study day will focus on developing an understanding of the approach to assessment of the acutely unwell oncology patient including management of therapy toxicities and complications of advanced cancer.

What to expect

  • Initial assessment of the acutely unwell oncology patient
  • Prognosis for metastatic cancer patients in the modern oncology era
  • Management of immunotherapy toxicities
  • Management of complex SACT toxicity
  • Emergency endocrine presentations
  • Common complications of metastatic cancer e.g. bowel obstruction, upper GI bleed
  • Ambulatory management approaches of toxicity and complications
