Managing Burnout in the Workplace - BLOCK Taunton

By Zane McCormack

Overview

Evening talk at Block on spotting and managing burnout and rust out at work. Plain tools, real stories, no hacks. Book your spot.

Right, let’s keep this simple. Work is busy, the pace keeps rising, and more people are running on fumes. Some are flat out, others feel stuck and bored. Both can grind you down.

BLOCK in Taunton are hosting an evening with Zane McCormack, a former UK police officer who burned out and rebuilt his working life. The session “Managing Burnout in the Workplace” looks at burnout and “rust out”, how they show up in real jobs, and what you can do before things take on a life of their own.

Across 45 minutes, we will:

  • Put clear language around burnout and rust out, without jargon.
  • Share early signs you can spot in yourself, colleagues, and teams.
  • Look at simple workload, boundary, and culture shifts that make work more sustainable.
  • Offer ways to start honest conversations with managers and HR without feeling like a problem.

There isn’t a pill, potion, hack or app that “solves” burnout. Tools can support recovery and prevention come from behaviour, boundaries, workload design, and supportive environments.

Format on the night:

  • 5.00 pm: Welcome drinks and a short introduction from Block to the space.
  • 5.15 pm: Zane’s talk: “Managing Burnout in the Workplace”.
  • 6.00 pm: Q&A and the option for 1:1 chats with Zane.

You will leave with clearer language, practical tools you can try the next day, and a better sense of how to protect your energy without dropping performance. If you work in leadership, HR, or you are simply feeling the strain, book your spot and give this time to yourself.
