Managing Challenging Behaviour in a Setting

The aim of this course is to support childminders and early years staff to understand and manage challenging behaviour in settings.

Description

This is a 3 hour training session. It includes an introduction to behaviour theory, explores links between children's feelings and behaviour, provides tips and strategies to help stop behaviours escalating and supports staff to feel confident in managing children's challenging behaviour.

Outcome

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • Understand basic behavioural theory and how to use ABC’s to identify triggers and consequences of children’s behaviour.

  • Understand the links between children’s feelings and behaviour

  • To be confident in using a range of strategies to prevent children’s behaviour escalating within a setting.
