Event description
Managing Challenging Behaviour in HE

About this Event

Who is this workshop for?

This is a full day event for any academic staff that deliver teaching at the University of West London and has experienced challenging student behaviour.

What will I get out of this?

The aim of this course is to provide Lecturers with strategies to minimise low and high-level negative behaviours from rudeness to a severe lack of motivation. In the morning sessions, the course considers not only practical methods but also how participants’ own behaviour can have a significant effect on their success in dealing with a difficult situation. In the afternoon, we consider more complex behaviours that may be caused by an underlying mental health condition and participants will have time to model out the strategies we have discussed during the session. By the end of the course, tutors will be able to take away a bank of tools that will help in the promotion of more positive behaviours.

What is involved in the workshop?

The session involves presentation, case study, discussion and practice.

Is there anything I need to know before booking a place?

Refreshments, hot and cold food is available from the canteen. Lunch will not be provided
