Description

This course has been developed to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to promote positive behaviour and respond appropriately to incidences of what is seen as challenging behaviour.

This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including Scenarios, Group discussions, ABC Charts. small group activities and DVD clips.

Course Content:

  • Legislation

  • Policies, procedures and guidelines

  • 'Challenging Behaviour' - the label.

  • Equality, diversity and rights

  • Types of behaviour that challenge

  • Causes of Challenging Behaviour

  • Responding to behaviour

  • Proactive and reactive strategies

  • Effects on behaviour on the individual and others

  • Review and revise approaches

  • Reflective practice of own role

Learning Outcomes:

After attending this course, learners will be able to:

  • State factors that influence behaviour

  • Evaluate and review strategies for challenging behavioural responses

  • Describe how legislation. frameworks, codes of practice and policies relate to positive behaviour support

  • Explain the context and use of proactive reactive strategies

  • Describe how to promote positive behaviour

  • Explain how to respond appropriately to incidents of challenging behaviour

  • Give an example of how to support individuals and others following an incident of challenging behaviour

  • Review and revise approaches to promoting positive behaviour
