About this Event

Covid-19 is bringing huge shifts and changes in our personal and professional lives. As our organisations adapt and evolve, there are challenging conversations happening at every level. Volunteer Managers are being asked to support their team as they navigate the new rules and practises, with some tough conversations along the way. Laura and Carol have pooled their combined 40+ years of hands-on experience to bring together two online half day workshops. Packed with tried and tested tools and tips, they will also include practical advice and an opportunity to build skills in this key area.

Whether you are new to volunteer management or looking for some new ideas ,this is the course for you.

These two half day workshops will cover some of the basics about why these situations occur, strategies for achieving the best results, plus tools and tips for managing conversations in the moment.

Challenging Conversations - Part One - 14 January 2021 - 10am - 1pm

Part One will cover our top tools and tips for achieving the best outcome.

Topics Include - why things can go wrong, planning for the best outcome, identifying the root cause of the problem or issue, formulating questions.

Challenging Conversations - Part Two - 21 January 2021 - 10am - 1pm

Part Two will cover managing the conversation in the moment.

Topics Include - different approaches to structuring the conversation, what to do when things go off track, communicating with confidence.

About the Trainers

Laura Hamilton and Carol Carbine are experienced volunteering specialists, each bringing over 20 years experience of leading and managing volunteers. They have worked in a range of settings; from retail and heritage to health and social care. As recognised trainers and facilitators in this field, their work draws on learning from mediation, counselling , coaching, leadership and management. In this course, they have teamed up to share their experience and insights on how to manage challenging conversations with volunteers, to achieve the best possible outcomes.
