Description

Laws and regulations provide a cornerstone for protecting the environment and society from harm. Organisations have a legal and moral duty to comply, but given the complexity of legal requirements in environmental and human rights protection, this is a significant challenge. What laws and regulations apply? What needs to be done to comply, and to ensure compliance is ongoing?

Join us for our upcoming roundtable to build on the relaunch of our popular Practitioner Guide series. Last month, we launched volume 1 of IEMA’s new ‘Sustainability in Practice’ guides to an overwhelmingly positive reception; let’s combine our skills and expertise to ensure volume 2 gives members the crucial support and direction they need on their journey to compliance and beyond.

Your input during this decisive session will help to clarify the structure of the second volume in our new Sustainability in Practice series of “how-to” guides – which is scheduled for publication in June 2018 in response to member demand. The new guide will explore:

· How organisations can identify and comply with environmental and human rights regulations both in the UK and abroad;

· What regulators expect from organisations using a compliance management system;

· Best practice, showcasing case studies of organisations, of different sizes and in different countries, whose business operations are/have been impacted by such laws and regulations;

· Practical checklists for managing legal compliance.

The workshop will provide an invaluable opportunity for you to learn from other businesses how your respective organisations are managing the process of legal and regulatory compliance, as well as what tools you could utilise to better answer these obligations.

Let’s work together to identify and discuss key issues. Come along to this upcoming session, chaired by Colleen Theron, FIEMA and Director of Ardea International, and join an exclusive gathering of IEMA Fellows and regulated businesses to help shape volume 2 of our Sustainability In Practice series.
