As the global war on talent continues to hot up, so does the pressure on business to attract and retain the best possible talent. However what business does and what science knows are too different things. Hiring managers globally continue to hire people who simply look and sound like them.

Dan Robertson, a recognized expert on organizational inclusion, will talk is through the science and psychology of unconscious bias. Dan will be providing answers to questions such, as what is unconscious bias and how does bias impact on individual and group behavior and decision-making in a business environment?
The presentation will cover:
• An overview of key cognitive and social biases including affinity bias, confirmation bias, attribution error, gender benevolence as well as the halo and horns effect
• The role and impact of mirco-behaviours (aggressions and affirmations) on individual and group performance
• The impact of In-group and Out-group dynamics on team performance
• Understanding the role of social networks and privilege at work
In addition, drawing on new research from behaviourial science, this overview will seek to move the conversation forward by highlight what works when seeking to mitigate unconscious bias and promoting inclusive work environments.
The presentation will be very interactive and provide lots of opportunity for questions as well as business-related examples and case studies.

Widely regarded as a subject matter expert on workplace diversity & inclusion, unconscious bias and inclusive leadership, Dan Robertson is the Director of Vercida Consulting.

Dan has a particular expertise in the science and application of unconscious bias, leadership decision-making and behavioural economics. He spends his days supporting executives to turn diversity theory into meaningful actions. He is acknowledged as an inspirational conference speaker and an expert facilitator working across a wide range of business sectors globally, including Asset Management, Banking, Insurance, Private Equity, Pensions, Legal, Professional Services, Consulting, Media, Oil and Gas, Recruitment and many others.

He has provided tailored learning, facilitating face to face workshops and delivering conference presentations covering themes including bias reduction and inclusive leadership to a wide range of global organisations based in London, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels, Moscow, Prague, Zurich, Dubai, Dublin, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, Bali, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Johannesburg, amongst others.
